The disc clean up throws out KBs of little loose fragments (bits of crud) that are floating around loose... well, that's my definition.
It tightens up any loose ends.
Defragging can take hours if you haven't done it recently so just let it carry on in the background. It is essential to those of us who work with photos and big PSD files.

Yes, I am having a lovely time - I baked meat pies.
The zipped folders have a very valuable function. They are for, if you lose all your kits, you can unzip them again so you still jave them.
But - you have back up on my laptop and on my 3 EHDs - external hard drives.
SO you do not need them at all and yes, throw them out.
You need to defrag your laptop, then you need to go up to tools, Internet Options, delete, then throw out cookies, files and history.
Then you need to do a disc clean up. Go to Start, all programs, accessories, system tools. Do a disc clean.
Then empty your recycle bin.
I might go to Floriade on Monday with Alessandro.

I have run this once a week for several years now.
disc clean up
then, my files only
then, a green bar goes slowly across while it is "calculating".
It takes two minutes.
Then press on OK.
Mine just cleared up 697 MB of junk, mostly temporary Internet files.
It then says: are you sure you want to permanently delete these files. Press "delete files".
It then takes one minute to finish.
