Arr! Me Pirate Name

My pirate name is:

Dirty Anne Flint

Get your own pirate name from piratequiz.com.
part of the fidius.org network

.

You're the pirate everyone else wants to throw in the ocean -- not to get rid of you, you understand; just to get rid of the smell. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

Documentation on Winter Project Part 6 and Last One

Day 11: Final day was polishing the mosaic and making the tiles stand out. I had buried quite a few tiles while doing this and had to use the end of a paintbrush to uncover them. Then I covered the whole thing with grout sealer. This prevented water ruining it. The worst part about this was the smell of the grout and the grout sealer but apart from that, I think that it all went well. The best part was when the whole thing was completed. The part I was most surprised about was how many tiles we needed and how the tiles were so sharp. I lost about three layers of skin that day. I am very happy with the last result and will remember this experience with pleasure for the rest of my life.

Gustav Klimt

Gustav Klimt was an Austrian painter. He was born in Baumgarten, Vienna July 14, 1862 and died on the 6th of February, 1918. He was one of seven children and all three brothers had an artistic talent and Gustav was lucky to have this talent of painting famous works.

His early life was poverty and most of his life was but he married Anna Klimt (née Finster) but in the early 1890's he met Emilie Flöge who became his life companion. He was also said to have fathered fourteen children during that period with Emilie Flöge. In 1892 his father and brother died which had an effect on how he painted for the rest of his life.

Klimt took annual summer holidays with the Flöge family and drew a lot of his pictures there. His work is distinguished by the elegant gold and the type of decorations he puts in his work. I would have a lot more to say but due the fact that the English language can't be simple, I have to stop here. To sum up all of this, I have decided to note that if you look on the 100 euro gold coin, you can find Gustav with two unfinished paintings.

I is for Island by Gemma Wiseman

Australia is the largest island on Earth. We have been studying the Victorian poet Gemma Wiseman. This is her haiku:

Island romancing
Hungering for primal dreams
Visionary whirlpools

From what it says I think that she is talking about an island. A large lovable island.

Documentation on Winter Project Part 2/5

Day 10: Grouting was done today. I got all my hands sticky with the grout. I had the choice of using hands or glove but the glove was too big so I used my bare hands. Still got a few marks from them. It took much longer than I expected but then again, there was a lot of cleaning involved. You had to clean the tiles before the grout dried properly otherwise it would all dry up and you can't get it off when it is really dry. Five pieces of tile came off but the grout will dry and they will be solidly stuck with it. I'm really proud of what I've done.

Challenge - Creosote Bush

Some interesting facts and information about the creosote bush are:
  • It is known to live for more than 2 years without water.

  • The newest population of these bushes came into their area 11-1200 years ago.

  • The leaves keep water in them because they are thick and waxy.

  • They grow in individual patches.

  • They don't germinate because their water sucking skills sucks all the seeds up.

Documentation on Winter Project Part 1/ 5

Day 9: Today I organised and glued the tiles again. I removed a tile because it looked better without it but it might not be recognisable. This time I finished it! Not completely though. I still have to do the grout and stuff but nevertheless, it looks good.

Poem - The Knight

Once upon a time there was a knight who rode
over the hills,
and killed a dragon,
and set fifteen women free
from an enchanter who kept the prisoners in a tower
and found a castle where they could live,
and rode on to the desert
where two kings were fighting a war that never ended
and waved a magic shield over the battle so all the soldiers stopped fighting and said,
"What are we here for?"
And then the knight turned and rode back,
through the desert, past the tower, over the hills,
and when she got home
she took off her armour, patted the cat and made
herself a cup of tea.

I was very surprised at the ending which was my favourite part. It just shows that not everything goes to plan or that women can do these type of things too.

Berthe Morisot & THRASS

Where did she live and paint?

Berthe Morisot was born in Bourges, Cher, France. From my sources, she painted in France.

What is her style called?

Her style was called Impressionist. Many famous artists did this including Claude Monet.

When did she paint?

She painted when she could. Her career was an artist and her sister was also one too. By the age of 20 she had met a few famous people too.

What is your favourite painting and discuss it.

I like 'The Cradle' or 'Le berceau'. I chose this because of its colour and who was on the picture. The way she mixes her colours and the I don't get it how she was able to make that veil type thing over the baby's cradle.

In the tree house I saw some big blue-green birds singing songs which was quite astonishing, a mini faded shelf with a small pink tea set on top, a fresh hash brown which I relish and and extra large sheet concealing all the money in my piggy bank!

Pearls

What do we use pearls for? Mostly for jewellery but we can also use them in other ways. In the world we have lots of pearls but what are they? When you think of pearls you usually think of white, glossy small balls used for making necklaces and earrings but did you know that there is a black pearl and sometimes they can be used in medicines? Did you know that a pearl is made from a grain of sand? Many, many things we don’t know but we can find out now.

Black and pink pearls are true but the most common ones we find are the white ones. We also have peach and lavender pearls but out of all of these, natural round ones are very rare to find. All of which, are beautiful but are made of the same substance and from the same place except the ones made by humans. There are two different types of pearls which are freshwater pearls and seawater pearls. The process of making a pearl begins with an oyster or a mussel. Let’s just call them molluscs. When a mollusc opens, sometimes an intruder will come inside it. This could be a grain of sand or a parasite. Over the years, this intruder becomes covered with layers of calcium carbonate and conchiol which eventually makes a pearl.

These things above I have researched from the trustworthy site, Wikipedia. From the things above I have learnt that a pearl is not always perfectly round and that it can form from anything small. I hope you have learnt something too.

An Unforgetable Dream - Writing Topics 9 - 12

We all have dreams ever since we were little but are there dreams we could never forget? It could be a happy dream or a sad dream, angry or peaceful. Whatever they are I have this one dream that I can never forget so let's rewind 9 years ago and I'll bring into my dream that I can never forget.

I was lying in my bed and was falling asleep. The details of sleep are sometimes hard to explain but here is what I think. A sleepy trance falls over your body and makes you think of things that you never think during the day. Those who have trouble count sheep or count backwards from 100. As I fell under this spell, I lay on my pillow and went entered a world only I know.

The dream that I always think of was a lady that looked like a clown. Only her face for that matter. The scene kept on rotating in a fast motion. Here is the scary bit. Instead of a body like a human, it had lots of hairy legs that stuck out like a straw out of a glass of lemonade. I woke up. I stopped, had a gasp and went back to sleep. I had that dream again and it took another two times to get it out of my head.

From that moment on, I could never remember my dreams but the ones that are scary are the only ones I can remember.
