Word Bank: cocoon chrysalis butterfly larvae milkweed orange migration wings caterpillar poisonous Monarch insect beautiful flying egg traveller patterns flight predator crunchy

The Monarch Butterfly starts off as an egg (larvae) and then after a few weeks, it will become a caterpillar. After a few weeks or so, it spin a coccon or chrysalis. Another few weeks of waiting and it will emerge from its cocoon and take flight into the unknown world.

This insect is a beautiful creature and has orange and black patterns on its wings. This butterfly eats milkweed, which is poisonous and predators can be assured to find it crunchy!

One of the unique things about this insect is that it goes on a migration journey to warmer places during the winter. So maybe you'll be able to see it flying over your house during the cold times.
